Variations on a Classic Nia class
Athletic Nia
A higher intensity Nia class focussing on more athletic movement variations. Geared more toward students of a higher fitness level who wish to explore a greater range of motion, more athletic base moves and faster movement sequences. A great opportunity to truly extend and express.
Gentle Nia
A lower intensity Nia class that offers more time moving at level 1 of the three levels of intensity. Geared more toward the older, less fit or convalescing Nia student, this is a wonderful and restorative Nia experience.
Note: All Nia classes are suitable for everyBODY, even if the class is adapted with a certain population in mind. Remember this: You, the student are ultimately responsible for your experience. You have the ability to choose to move in the sensation of joy by ‘tweaking’ movement to suit Your Body’s Way. Be guided by the sensation of pleasure so that you remain in or moving toward the state of joy in your Nia practise.
NiaNZ members may market their classes using different names than those listed above, illustrating their own creative expression and personal business marketing. Most Nia classes offered in NZ will fall under one of the three class types above despite a variation in labelling. A few teachers who also have qualifications in other movement disciplines may offer combination classes such as YoNia (Yoga + Nia). There are numerous ways a teacher may choose to offer Nia while remaining true to the practise. With Nia, there is absolutely something for everyone.
